Cutting with a Carving Bar on MS150

I'm considering replacing the bar on my MS150 with this Sugihara carving bar. I run Sugihara bars on all my other saws and love them. My concern is that without a sprocket on the tip it wouldn't work well for cutting-as opposed to carving. Anyone have any experience with this?

Running this .050 carver bar on a MS150 would rob way too much power from the little 150 without a sprocket nose.
Plus a .043 gauge 71PM mini 1/4" is whats recommended for the saw.

Try quarter tip w/ nose sprocket. Link length is a common, cheaper size.

There's no such thing as a sprocket nose carver bar whether dime tip, quarter tip or toonie tip. You gotta be Canadian to know what a toonie is, lol.

The OP never stated if his MS150 is stock or modified. But for light pruning a stock 150 would handle it. Trouble is chain tension has to be kept loose what a carver bar is designed for as chain tension is snug at WOT (wide open throttle) while working with the nose.
Doing pruning work chain derailing may be a common thing. Nothing worse then putting a chain back on a saw 50 feet off the ground.

Years ago I ran a 12" dime tip Cannon carver bar on my muffler modded Husqvarna 338XPT for some heavy pruning work. Was running Stihl boat tailed 1/4" carver chain, worked really well for a smoother cut and working in tight crotches.
Even went on to removals with the setup but mind you my 338 has double the power of a MS150.
Now I just run Stihl 63PS chisel Picco on the 338XPT.
My Husqvarna T536 Li XP battery is doing alot of my top handle work now, the 338 sits more.
Even got the 536 converted to the little 71PM chain (takes a 1/8" file) same chain the MS150 comes with.
