cougar climbing line

I have been doing my homework and haven't found much on what cordage and hitches are really working well on the rope.

I weigh 215lbs+ gear and lunch

I used to climb on an 10mm op 32-34" 3w 3b vt tied with triple fm and seized on a hitch climber and tachyon. I am a really aggressive climber and really like a hitch that tends itself even if i have to fidget with it on occasion. The above combo worked great, but I wanted to try a new rope to hitch climb on as my tachyon was worn out and got a great hank from a buzzard with two eye splices. Now i don't want to spend the next six months trying different hitch cord, knot, length, and termination combos. does anyone have a starting point or a cordage that really works well with the cougar? and if you are willing, would you post your weight, climbing style, hitch cord, length, termination, knot, and srt or Ddrt?

Thanks in advance, Jeff

armor prus 8mm (green) spliced e2e 73cm vt 3 wrap 3 braid - me 72kg with no clothes on - I carry a normal amount on my harness - climb single and doubled - doubled with a pulley - single is buttery smooth, doubled OK (that's the case anyway!) what do you mean aggressive, you jump into your hitch ? I change every month or so - the newer cord is less grabby - which I like.

....cougar blue is excellent rope Jeff but if you worry about peak loading you'll want to build something dynamic into your system - rope guide, trunk anchor etc etc as it is very static - which I also like !

I have found the hrc to spring open and tend well. The only problem I have with it is on occasion is has too much friction on descent. I am a big fan of the new 10mm beeline blue. Springs open well and grabs pretty reliably without too much fuss. On descent it doesn't have too much friction and always runs smoothly. The biggest thing I have found is small ropes and I just don't mesh well. The piece of cougar I had was smaller than tachyon, and for me tachyon is as small as I can go. I actually get better performance out of a 16 strand 1/2" line even with the extra weight. I'm probably around 195 geared up with a 200 hanging on my saddle.

I use it with 10m OP and a knut. VT was too tough for me to climb with. It seized all the time. I love the line and had changed to it for the first generation of the zig zag. Unfortunately no hitch compares to the zigzag. Try the knut.

When I was climbing on cougar I used 24in stitched 8mm OP. 3Wrap 3Braid VT. I weigh 150. Climb aggressive SRT and Ddrt same knot for both, very fast and fun combo for me!
