True. We set up a mock competition site and teach everyone how to compete. Then, they compete for prizes and plaques. It's really for climbers who might want to compete but are hesitant to do so due to the environment or lack of experience. It's fun.

Mark,

Will this be the only mock competion climb this year (for beginners)???????????Your answer to this will be very important in my decision. Any in N.J.?

I'm having a problem with it being on Wedn and Thurs. I think I would rather drive and it will take me 10 1/2 hrs to drive there, which will take out Tuesday and Friday also. If I fly, I've got to rent a car and all that.

If it's going to be wet next week here, like it is this week, no problem, I can't work anyway. But if it dries up or freezes up; there are some jobs that have to be completed.

Crap! I forgot to update it. I copied it directly from their website before they changed the dates. The dates are the 13 and 14- Thursday and Friday.

Sorry everyone. On the brighter side, does this help you to get there now X?

Great! Helps out A LOT!!!

Now only one more obstacle. A friend from Costa Rica may be visiting soon, I have to make sure they are not coming next week.

Some of the states in the Southern Chapter (Tennessee I think and Georgia for sure) have state TCC's and allow 'outsiders' to compete. The 'outsiders' may or may not be allowed to compete in the Master's challenge--it varies from year to year and somehow depends on the total number of people in the TCC. Both states use the state TCC as a warmup for the Southern Chapter TCC. They encourage first time competitors and allow time for explaining and giving advice for each event.

John Ransom has climbed as a guest competitor in all of the Canadian chapters. Did alot of them a few times. I think it may have been part of his training program. More kicks at the can so to speak. Some of the chapters would let him compete in the Master Climb, but only as a guest, he couldn't win the event.
