Climbing comp tips

One time in the Georgia comp in the belayed speed climb we had a guy that was smoking the climb when his snuff can came out of the leg pocket of his carharts. DQ!
In all my years of competing the most valuable thing I dropped was comparison. When I began to listen more than I spoke, strove only to be better than ”me“ the last time, then I began to reap the intangible rewards of friendship, community, and knowledge.

Without the burden of comparison, I was free to drop unrealistic expectations and simply focus on having fun, laughing, and realizing there was much more to this tree climbing thing than climbing.

Instead of getting DQ’d for dropping these things I began to see my small measure of success. Over the years I lost more way more than I won, but I learned to never place my bet till the cards were in my hand.

I wouldn’t trade that even if I‘d been DQ’d

Pretty comprehensive. 7 episodes on this channel.
Protect your body, it is a race/comp/ so wear and tear is something to think about if making money on your day job is important. Enter the ring, be prepared to get hurt.
I didn't like that some trees get damaged.
The continued use of toxic Lead is disgusting.
Feats of strength. skill and knowledge gained doing comps might be what you need. In reality the real growth comes from shining the light on your arboriculture knowledge.
At the end of your career, what matters most. For me it is the environment, the trees and clients we serve.

It would be great if ISA International Society of Arboriculture would place as much effort, time and money into Red Sealing the arborist trade/make it truly professionally recognized.
Davey is usually a big sponsor.
I am not a hater, a lover of arboriculture.
The industry itself is a misguided.

Enjoy yourself, learn from others.
