Change is coming to TreeBuzz---heads up

yes, simple is a positive thing.

hopefully it won't be complicated and confusing.

I think that's what tom meant when it would kind of look the same.

so hopefully it will be very similar, have a simple look, but be more user friendly on pictures, video embedding, notifications of people liking and responding to your posts, etc.

eager to see it...

As far as I can see the new software does all of that. As things get unrolled we'd like to ask for suggestions and patience too

Are we going to be able to keep our usernames? And post counts?

I sure hope so! Right now I'm not sure but its hard for me to imagine that all of those details haven't been accounted for.

Jeesh, Tom! It only took you 13 years to rack up 12,625 posts. No biggie!

Looking forward to it. I've been taking a break from all forums including the devil's spawn that is Facebook.
Been reading actual books. Studying trees. And now that my phone's not in my face constantly checking for stuff I've discovered that I have a dozen regular types of birds in my yard. Some that I've never seen before. Keeping my eyes (or should I say eye) open to what's around me more.
But TreeBuzz was the beginning of this part if my life and it's still extremely important to me.
Looking forward to the changes.

I would think fields like username and such would fall under a standard database conversion. Not a perfect process but it is a matter of saying "first name" in the old program equals "primary name" in the new program. Or the field "birthday" (in old program) = the field "date of birth" (in new program). As long as the fields were populated correctly the data should turn out fine.

That's 2.66 per day!

The conversion is cooking in the background. From what I understand the on-screen look will be very similar to what we see right now. Mark and I are talking about making changes to the look once the conversion is complete.

Too many changes at once is not a good idea.

I'm not sure about all this change, and conversion and "passing through" - And why does Tom suddenly look and sound more like Marshall Applewhite?

At first I thought the Tom was me...but not, my eyes are quite as wild as his.

Not sure of the calendar date for the unveiling. In tree-time...very soon. In human time...within a few weeks we're hoping.

Hi gang. The server was the first upgrade. Then we started importing to another software and errors came up. Then we downgraded the newly upgraded server to be able to import the current forum. Then started the first change and more errors. Then we had new codes written... more errors... it is a process. The good news is that we are in good hands and they have been working on this for weeks and won't stop until it is complete. I will let you all know when it is going to be switched on.

The new version will work with Tappatalk and be very mobile friendly. This new software is constantly changing and will help us to keep current with technology. It will integrate with Facebook and Twitter and make posting media easier and even allow for new options like multi quoting and others. The new server will be a lot faster as well.

Thanks to everyone for making Tree buzz such a great place for so many years! The next few years will be very cool!
