Chainsaw pants

Anyone have any recommendations for really tough chainsaw pants? I've gone through 2 in the last 4 months because I stretched and the material ripped too much to be fixed (not crotch related).

I bought the UL breatheflex pros a month or so ago. So far they seem plenty durable, but you may want to buy them longer than normal.

pros are tough and most cost effective considering everthing.
more than happy with quality, fit and build.
amazing all the refinements material upgrade
in your hands you can see and feel the strength
i Hate spending money on chaps and chain saw pants
this ol dodger is happy with arborflex

These are a budget friendly option that I've been very happy with.

Ive had very good luck with clogger products. My zeros have 4 years (spring/summer/fall) and are still in service. Gonna try out some arbortechs and keep the zeros around for backups. @seedy j what kind of pants were you blowing out?

I like the Clogger ascends as far as durability goes , they seem to be tougher then the zeros. The breatheflex pros are alright but are really taper leg and wont stay down on my boots. Pfanners seem to last forever but are not as light and cool as the cloggers

I'll second that. I've had.... 4 different kinds of chainsaw pants over the years and currently wearing Clogger Ascends. They feel like the most (though I'm only 2-3 months in) compared to the other Cloggers, Notch and SIP pants I've used previously. I was using the Clogger Zeros most recently and they are great in the summer, but in the PNW, they are just too cold in the fall/winter. Never tried Pfanners but maybe next time.

I got a pair of the notch pants and they would be great if everything didn't stick to them and they create these little burs all over them , have you experienced this also ?

Thanks all. I was looking at the Clogger all season and the Gladiators, but I really like the idea of the base layer/outer shell that Arbortec have. If I only have to replace the outer shell every once and awhile, instead of a complete set, that might make more sense to me.

I never tried that particular pair , but I would assume if its time to replace the outer layer wouldn't the base layer be possibly weakened ?

I've found that the material usually gets destroyed from seams getting pulled open, crotches getting blown out, etc. It's possible that the base layer might also get snagged, but I feel like the main protective material of my past pants have been intact, so hopefully the base layer will still be usable if I have to replace to outer shell. I'll see how it goes.

Absolute best was pfanner gladiator non vent. The pair I bought from Chisholm, who declined my request to sign the crotch, is by far the most durable I’ve owned.
I bought a pair of gladiator vents, and while they were well built they didn’t last nearly as long.
Tried Steins and they were, meh hotter than either of the gladiators and not nearly as water proof.
Now I have two pairs of clogger zeros, orange Gen and green Gen. The green ones ripped before the orange! They are super light and comfy, but the durability isn’t there. Just bought a pair of ascends, and they seem to be a little lighter duty than the phanner gladiators. But cooler, but not as waterproof. They are a bit lighter.

I’ve got the following.

1) Gen 1 Clogger Zeros- they have orange accents.
• Purchased in 2017.
• Sewed buttons on them.

2) Stihl technical pants.
• they came with sewn Suspender buttons but as those fall off I am replacing with the Tac Buttons.
• Canadian market pant that is European cut- like a cheap motel, no Ball room.
• the fabrics are a bit thicker than the Cloggers & don’t “pick” nearly as bad.

3) Pfanner Gladiators- they were supposed to be the vents but are not.
• Tac Button Suspenders.
• Heavy
• Oh so Hot
• what I wear when it’s muddy, wet.

If the Stihl Technical pants were more roomy in the Jewelry Box area they would be my far & away favorite pair. They are made out of a better exterior material.

I wish I knew where I could buy the Stihl pants directly from the manufacturer.

Supposedly the Notch brand are made by Clogger but I haven’t confirmed.

finished two days in a Euro purging Buckthorn overgrown forest patch pole saw and clearing saw and shredder the area for some hazard tree removals.
The arborflex for the win. Every stitch in place :numberone:
Confident to further the investment with arborflex storm.

Well, Stihl are out of the running.

I get claustrophobic.

I have the SIP Canopy Wair. They had a Tall size and the fit is super. Seem to have a bit of stretch and not crazy hot. they are holding up fine and I find them comfortable.
not sure if I would qualify them as super tough. I wear them climbing and havent done a ton of bushwhacking type work in them. I could see that beating them up pretty good. the rear, non-protective part is pretty slim fabric.

Also got the Arborwear Ironwood pants and they seem more burly. Haven't put a bunch of wear into them yet so can't speak to long-term durability. I know I can walk through bramble and berry patch type stuff and not feel it.
