Certified Rope Spliceing?

Location

Does anyone know how you go about getting certified to splice rope? Also anyone needing something spliced or have idea for something and just need someone to put it together let me know.

I don't think you will get anyone to "certify" you to splice rope. Too much of a liability. They will test your splices though. Call New England Rope.

In his book "Arborist Equipment" Donald Blair has an authors note suggesting that he was or is certified through Yale Cordage. The test seems to be to splice a rope and have it broken in their lab. Should the rope fail before the splice your certified. It's on page 173 of my copy. I splice 16 and 3 strand for my company and I have performed this test using heavy equipment. Not for certification, but rather for my comfort and that of my co-workers.

I am certain that everything I have spliced wont ever come appart. And that rope will break before the slpice fails. I have just been thinking of forming a company that would make custom tree tools for climbing and rigging. I am just not sure about legality of it all.

keep in mind, no one will actually certify you to splice under their name. They may train you however.
