Looking into buying my first bucket truck was just curious if anybody knew a company in the New Jersey area that does boom inspections how much they usually cost and what to expect. Thanks in advance

It’s called an NDT, non destructive test. They inspect the metal plates and welds for cracks by using an electro magnet and fine metal particles. The idea is that if a crack exists, when they blow the dust at the metal plate it wil for a line over the crack to bridge it. That way if one exist below paint it can be detected.
Then the check the play in the bushings and the slip in the turntable gear.
If you pass that portion and intend to work near energized lines, assuminbyou are certified? You will also require a dielectric test to ensure the boom and bucket components will not ground out on contact with power lines.
You can likely call a major electrical contractor in your area to find a tester. Good luck!
