Low hours! 785 true hours.

We don't use this large chipper very often. Excellent condition.

250 horse power John Deere 8.1 L Diesel engine.

Everything works great.

Autofeed.

Hydraulic: winch, shoot swivel, tongue lift and top feed wheel lift/crush.

Oversize diameter top feed wheel.

Rated as 18" chipper, but throat is a good bit bigger; at least 20x21.

New tires. Dual wheels.

Demonstrations available. Excellent chipper.

Hard to find a high horsepower 1890HD with low hours like this.

Understand the difference between HD and non-HD models. HD = heavy duty. It has bigger frame in order to support the large heavy engine and other items are build heavier and thicker as well.

It's a beast of a chipper, makes tree material disappear extremely fast. Breaks lots of crotches. Eats whole trees like thick full Leyland cypress and small whole spruce trees without having to de-limb them.

The 1890HD has the shoot/spout dump out slot in case the machine ever bogs down and stalls, this way chips don't clog the shoot/spout; they slide down and dump out.

2001, so no power robbing emission systems.

Listed it a few weeks ago on machinerytrader for $49,000.

Asking for $45,000 or best offer (higher or lower) on treebuzz.

Selling it only because we could use some money for tool projects for our other business and the fact that we have another smaller chipper that we use more often.

Pictures to follow this post.

ALSO, what I like about this chipper is that it is NOT very long. Not like how those 1990 models can be.

This chipper is similar length to other smaller model chippers.

That's a nice machine!! Mine is an'05, but your looks way better! With that shorter wheelbase you definitely get more flexibility. For crane work this setup is especially a productive time saver.

That chipper is sharp. Looks real good. Did you ever use it? Looks brand new. I too would like to know what you towed it with?

Do you tow this frequently with your ford chip truck, its a f550 right? How does it tow?

We tow it with our 2001 Ford F550 (7.3L Diesel) almost exclussively. Truck is not modified, no chip, no programmer. Stock intake and air, stock exhaust. Transmission in that truck is updated with a "shift kit" and a faster lighter torque converter. It's a 4x4 truck too, truck has 90,000 miles on it.

It tows it well, but it wouldn't want much more weight.

We live in a rolling hill area. NOT mountains. I think this would definitely be too heavy of a chipper for this truck in a mountainous area. And mountainous I mean even just our Appalachian mountains West of us.

We do pull this chipper with a full load of chips in this truck, but the truck doesn't like it much. You can tell it is working.

I think this chipper is 10,500 lbs. I think this chipper in the NON- HD size was 8,500 lbs.

I have only towed it with our crane maybe 8 times in all these years. That's because it's difficult for that long of a truck to back the chipper down a driveway. The 550 is very maneuverable. So even when I'm going to be chipping into the crane box, we still use the 550 to bring it to the jobsite, unhook then back the crane up to it or put the container down in front of it.

Our 550 box is too short in height. Most chip boxes are about 6 to 10 inches higher than this old Southco box. It doesn't fill the box well, unless we back the truck onto block or else unhook the chipper and drop the tongue down.

This chipper's paint was faded, washed out ugly yellow. I had it professionally painted this summer and new bandit decals.

I thought I might sell it, but if I kept it, I really wanted it to look better than that pale yellow that it was.

Then I was really sick the entire month of December and became low on funds, plus need money for XAS product orders. So.... things that are not used every day are being sold. It's funny though, now that I made a decision to advertise it, I'm using it more. I've been torn between selling this chipper in the past too. Several other winters, I contemplated selling it in the past too. With the new machines with emission systems and low horsepower, it's actually made used high horsepower machines like this increase significantly in value.

This is the f550 that tows it:

I never did much video of chippers chipping in the past. But since putting it up for sale, I did video last week of this chipper eating black walnut, beech, paulownia, hickory, red maple, black cherry and black gum. A few weeks before that, I filmed it eating 18" and 20" aspen trees (soft wood). I have not had time to view it and render it. But if there is interest in this chipper, I'll throw something together tomorrow and post on youtube for you tomorrow likely.

It IS very impressive.

also, I think Andre (climbHighLetItFly) from the buzz, got to see this chipper eating white pine on a crane job this September or so.

And THANKS for the nice comments all and the best wishes. I know I'll be sad when it's gone and the next big white pine job comes up or lot clearing, but maybe a few years down the road I can buy a big chipper again.

this machine is a beast. winch, hydro jack, bells and whistles, stickers all there, yada yada yada.....
if you dont want to buy new and would rather a chipper that has (seemingly, cant say cause its not mine) all the bugs worked out and is just a straight work horse, this is your machine right here.

Yeah, 10,500. Crazy you couldn't find a way to shake off 501 pounds. I'm sure there is some extra steel you could do with out.
