Bandit 15XP vapor locking

Location

Anyone else having problems with the engine vapor locking? Mine has 5.7 gasser. First thing Bandit asks is if it has a shield over the fuel pump and filter. It has the shield.

Bought new less than 6 months ago and is a beast, but it’s a $55k piece of yard art if the engine won’t run in the heat of the summer. It is black in color if that matters. Only 92 degrees today. I’m sure we will see 80 plus days of temps over 90 degrees. Let it cool down for half an hour and it’ll crank back, but only 10 minutes of heavy chipping and it vapor locks again. I’m hoping some of you have found the solution.
Thanks!

I have the same problems with my 19 XP. It had the 5.7 L 350. It gave me so many problems that I have actually told bandit they had to buy it back for me or lose me as a customer. Thankfully they did. Intern I turned around and bought two more 12 XPs. Make sure it is always full of fuel. Also, I found that it did it less frequently with a venting gas cap. If yours is like mine it has a solid metal cap That does not vent

It does have a solid metal cap. Also it seems to do it on hot, sunny days when the tank is around 3/8-1/2 full on level ground, so it’s not running out of gas. image.webp

Can that vented cap be found at an auto parts store??

Have you contacted the engine manufacturer (Power Solutions International)? I've found them to be very helpful and responsive.

Yes, I believe we've had this problem with both the 12xp and 15xp Bandits, 130hp and 165hp GM gas engines respectively. Thanks for the advice on the keeping the gas tank full and vented fuel caps.

Yes, I’m working closely with psi. They say the heat shield over the fuel pump and filter solved the issue, but mine has that shield and is still doing it. I moved the fuel line as far as I could from the hydraulic lines and wrapped it with a heat shield. Also wrapped the heat shield in silver. Couldn’t find a vented cap this evening. I guess we will see if it breaks down again tomorrow ‍♂️

It may not be related but also noticed a fuel line seemed mostly crimped on mine where it bolted on to the passenger side engine cowling by the clutch near filter
