Arm Chaps

Asked about this in the thread about treec limbers from a distance but it will get lost there, so I'll ask here.

Any opinions about arm chaps? Sherrill has them and they don't seem too expensive to try out. I'm thinking I might like them for summer when I don't want to wear a long sleeved shirt. Probably more useful for hauling brush than climbing but maybe useful on spruce and other nasty things.

Might also be good when working around poison ivy. In our area, probably too hot to wear during the summer months.

Yeah, but with a little customizing you could have trees or a landscape or even your company name tanned into your skin.

I saw a pair of the leather arm chaps. If I were to use them I would want them lined with a short nap fleece with ballistic cloth on the 'palm' side and inner arm. A lighter nylon on the outside.

i don't really understand the purpose of arm chaps. i'm sure if you show up at work w/ them on you'll get a few laughs. long sleeve sweat wicking shirts is the way to go. keep 'em up when you want, put 'em down when you need to.

I've had a pair for some years, and they are really nice when working in a tshirt with brush that has lots of thorns or resin. People might look strange at me, but I don't really care!

Bought a pair last month. Too hot where I'm at but they feel pretty neat with short sleeves. Seems like there sized a little big, had to return mine for the next size down. That could have been my fault too. Talk about being fully outfitted for the job, to cool. I like the orange color too.

I have a pair of the leather ones. They are a real pain to get on and off and very hot. That said I feel indestructible with them on paired with some good gloves. I like to pull them out for dealing with nasty stuff like Rosa ragosa.
