AR training dummy substitute

I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion as for an easy substitute for Aerial Rescue practice that doesn't involve buying $600 dummy? I like the idea of making one out of overalls but I was curious what other climbers might have used successfully as a substitute...

First rescue dummy I ever used was at the Boy Scout camp I worked at. The camp ranger had stitched it together out of some of the old canvas from tents and stuffed it with rags of the same. I think there might have been a solid chunk in the middle to add a bit of weight too.

Another rescue dummy I've played with was also home built. 15 gallon barrel for the torso, arms n legs made from anchor chain. Whole thing wrapped in furniture foam, then manhandled into coveralls bought at a garage sale. IIRC, it took another couple feet of chain in the barrel to weight it up to about 180, while still leaving a bit of room to adjust.

An old tire. One that does not have the steel on the sides sticking out. Seriously, if your looking for something cheap that is what I have used in the past. It is awkward, depending on this size it can weigh enough to make it a challenge to lower. If it falls, no worries!!

I suppose it would be inappropriate to use one of your drunk friends when they pass out?

I once obtained a store mannequin by asking around at department stores if they had any old, beat up ones they'd part with. I was able to get one for $100 that was in fairly good shape. It was for an elaborate halloween hoax, so don't get any funny ideas... LoL...

Coveralls will work for the body form

The challenge is to find stuffing that works

One solution that I heard a while ago is to use coils of ropes. Make them big enough to fill each appendage and you're likely to end up with one that weighs right.

Sew the shirt cuffs shut then one coil for fore arms and upper arm. With some creative cordage you could even make an articulating arm/shoulders. Use old throwline to keep the coils in the right shape
