I would like to build a woodmizer/tempest style splitter or maybe even just buy one, but I was wondering how big of a pain it would be to power the hydraulics on the skid steer model. The fancy one has a 23 horse v twin, so surely my Cummins will do it.
What variables are there to look for on a PTO? I have read that my particular transmission has clearance issues (that should be relatively easy to overcome) but browsing this morning has left me lost in a fog of options. I didn't know there was so much to know about PTOs or hydraulics.
What makes a dump trailer that you can easily overfill so that it can't dump? Why are slow log splitters slow? Feel free to direct me to places that I can study and learn, but I don't even know where to start, and I want to succeed if I start a project like this.
