Redwood tree for only $100! What a bargain.

Here's the text copied from that Norfolk, VA CL ad:

I have a very large Redwood Tree (purchased from a local nursery as a seedling years ago) that I want to sell on the stump for $100 cash or credit card. This tree appears to have been struck by lightning and is partially dead. Here are the particulars - you must be insured - liability and workers comp; you fell the tree and remove; the tree is accessible; once you begin, the tree must be removed within three days. It is located in the Western Branch section of Chesapeake.

There can be no hope for our civilization if these weak minded fools are given access to advanced computers and internet technology. And is that a Red Cedar in the pic there?

"I have some used motor oil in my engine I'm willing to sell for beer money, you must be insured and ASC certified mechanic, you can have the filter for free."

Oh, that's priceless! No, wait... it's $100. Still, with bargains like that on CL, it's little wonder it's so popular among the sharp businessmen living in a mud hut back in the hill country.

ADDENDUM: "Slight discount if you change the plugs and fix the brakes while you're at it."

Mills around here typically won't bother with trees from privately owned land. I heard it's because of the high risk of hardware embedded within. OTOH, most paper mills want chips versus logs ... not as costly for them to process.

People around here always ask why we don't pay them for the wood. Like it's gold or something. Is it like that everywhere? This business is a racket, you charge me to cut the trees down and then you make a fortune off the wood

Tell them wood is everywhere. Almost like it grows on trees. I ain't paying you!

Could give em the option to leave it there, same price just to prove you didn't go low because the wood was padding you :D
