Scheduling work for this Wednesday is tough . Last year on 9/11 I worked a 11 hr. day and was pretty shocked when I got home and saw the news (heard it on the radio all day ) . We called a lady who has been bugging us to get this tree done and said we'll be there on the eleventh and the air went out of the room . She said " do you know what day that is ?" I'm wondering if I should just stay home this Wednesday .

Some people get all freaky about things like this. But I sure wouldn't want to sit home all day and lose a day's work. If this lady is that freaked about it, find another job to schedule for that day.

Just tell her it will be Wednesday or 2 weeks from now.

A letter on the editorial page this week made a good point. We didn't make December 6th into a special day. We just remember what happened and move ahead. I sure hope that there doesn't a movement to make 9/11 any kind of national holiday. Just what we need is another day off for federal/state workers to go fishing. Call me a curmudgeon or stick in the mud. Everyone should have the opportunity to spend this day as they choose. Making it a national, official day doesn't seem right to me.

We've mourned, lets move on.

I've been pondering the same question, where to send a crew on Wed? Here in NJ, we lost customers in the disaster and personally, friends. It may be a sensitive issue as to what neighborhood won't mind hearing a chipper and chainsaws all day. Especially in Summit, where I do 85% of my work. There is a family being featured on 60 Minutes tonight, that was a client also. It's a horrible thing, but like Tom had stated, we have to move on.

I know that my company will be working, as we did last year on this tragic day. As Trevor said, it has touched so many in our area. Middletown, NJ (in our work zone) was the town that had lost the most residents that day.

I also feel that we should remember but move on.

I will spend my afternoon on a plane headed to Minn. to see Tom and the locals for their TCC.
