385xp (epa) oiler issues

I have tried to replace the broken oil pump adjuster screw assembly twice now, after waiting 3 weeks to get the part from our dealer and another two weeks from an online dealer after I broke the first one while reinserting. The assembly is a smooth shank tapered tip insert with a spring that is captured in a tapered/ castellated 10mm nut by a perpendicular pin. The housing that surrounds female threads that this assembly fits into does not accommodate a standard 10mm socket, it seems to require a thin walled nut driving tool. Twice now I have broken the insert or the capture pin by trying to set the assembly and have resorted to just plugging the hole at the bottom of the oiler. So frustrating/ annoying!

Can anyone share my grief or does anyone have any suggestions? I am also considering going to a 395xp for our big saw needs, any reviews/ opinions of that saw would be helpful, thanks.

Don't know about the oiler issue on your 385 but I do have a 395xp and I am impressed with it so far. I replaced my 660 with the 395 after running a 394 that my buddy owns. I run a 36" bar on the 395 and it's no problem at all. The 660 had a 32" bar and it would bog frequently if you got on it. My $.02 worth.

For anyone who cares, the easiest way to replce that screw is to pull the whole oil pump, which I learner from pulling the whole oil pump, aaarrrgggghhhh! Live and learn.
