2 Part or 3 Part lines

If I were on a three part I would use Norm Hall's method with a clevis and a friction saver and put the clevis on the becket, with a 2 part line it's more complicated, in the past I've put the friction saver through the block bedside the sheave and over a couple of bolts that hold the block together.

With multiple part applications I prefer a master link in the hook. I don't like any part of the climbing system anywhere above the hook where it has the potential for getting entangled with the running load line

With multi part blocks this is the best way to attach a tie in point. Be sure the latch can be locked. A master link works best but a large shackle will work if its not a regular application for you.

I've tied into the dead end, like dbl612 suggested. But since it's on the top of the side plate, and I'm not the lightest guy around, I tipped the block so much that the cable didn't run through the sheaves smoothly, as it was rubbing against the inside of the sideplates. Once the operator took a strain against the load, the block returned to dead vertical. But every time he was flying just me around the canopy it was rough going. After that experience, now if the crane shows up rigged with 2 or 3 part line, I always take the 5 minutes to disassemble and rig as 1 part line.

We run 2 part a lot. I have taken to girthing a sling to one of the retaining pins. Ill take a picture next time. Just was curious how others were doing it. Thanks for the input, I'm not 100% clear on what Marquistree was explaining. If anyone got a picture I'd appreciate it. Thanks
