anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

How transparent are you all with the clients when it comes to pricing breakdown on the jobs? Some places I worked the boss/foreman would enforce the crew being onsite the full amount of billable time even if the pruning was seemingly done, doing extras, providing customer service value there...

turning a cab+chassis into dump truck question

hmm sounds like to take just a truck and chassis, turn it into a dumping chip truck would be quite the project. but I mean...if I have the time im still interested in the project lol. would be cool to find like an old low miles international down south with a great engine. drive it back north...

turning a cab+chassis into dump truck question

Currently looking into buying a chip truck, Not much mechanical knowledge despite some years working in different trucks/companies as a tree climber. No time pressure here so I was wondering....., how much more difficult and costly exactly is it to buy a truck+chassis that you prefer and turn...

anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

that's the plan! I started this thread to sort of kick off a chat about basically: how can a legit/experienced skilled climbing arborist, living in an apartment with a sedan start their own tree care business. The challenge of purchasing insurance without any work lined up. Getting off the...

anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

Another thing I anticipate is not making much $ at all off these removals unless the scenario is perfect. I see these as opportunities to get on a property and talk to a homeowner so I can either A) convince them to prune instead B) upsell/add other work on the property...

anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

Just my experience doing weekend warrior type work - its what gets me on the properties. Also, most of my career was at pruning companies but I always was the 2nd or 3rd string removal guy if you will. So I like to think im versed in both categories to help fill my weekends/ Starting from...

anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

I anticipate mostly removals and odd jobs 90 percent of the time to start. But hopefully the end result is mostly pruning and tree care, which I think is very possible given the culture of homeowners around here.

anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

Thanks everyone, This brainstorm exercise of sorts has helped me get my thoughts together and have some direction how I can proceed. I now have a list of independent insurance folks lined up to call, a list of [potential dump sites to investigate, some rolloff/dumpster places to investigate...

anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

Its a great idea, sort of what I was thinking. I noticed the surge of companies getting forestry style bucket trucks, then the taller 75ft just bucket trucks no chip body, then more cranes, then knuckle booms and mini skids everywhere etc etc. Which I love don't get me wrong lol but I think you...

anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

I like the sound of this - but what im confused about is does the rolloff rental compay take the debris ? or do I have to drive a truck and dump it somewhere. Of course ill look into it but i like the sound of this. wonder what they would do with big wood chunks lol.

anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

this is my exact issue, not rural at all so cleanup is a huge part. dump fees are pricey. I am thinking there is no other way to start but than pay another tree company. I dont feel confident taking out a loan for a truck/chipper without some work lined up. I want to do the full scope of...

anyone successfully start a business with no equipment or land?

Is this even possible? For example: You have all the tools, saws, climbing/rigging gear and skills/experience but have a sedan as a vehicle and you rent an apartment. How do you all get started with no work lined up, no insurance...Do you build up a backlog somehow from facebook marketing then...
