Piece of equipment you should have bought years ago??

Sean, thanks for sharing that Morbark video. Alot has changed since I bought my Morbark disc chipper new in the spring of 2001. Only work I done on it in the last 18 years is regular maintenance and knife changes. Bulletproof machine.

Piece of equipment you should have bought years ago??

Of course you don't get the knicks out with the carbide, Lol. But using the carbide getting the edge back sharp with minor knicks still in the edge will get you back chipping again. Great way to extend time between knife changes.

Piece of equipment you should have bought years ago??

You put more hand pressure on the carbide towards the single bevel side of the chipper knife to avoid putting a double bevel edge in the knife. No worries about deforming the knife edge as when time comes to get them professionally sharpened to proper angle the that whole edge is removed anyways...

Piece of equipment you should have bought years ago??

The green one on top has a carbide on one end that sharpens only one side of a knife. The other sharpens both sides.

Piece of equipment you should have bought years ago??

I've been operating my tree service for over 20 years now, running solo for the last 10. Have bought and had sharpened many chipper knives over the years. But just in the last couple of years decided to try a carbide hand held sharpener on my knives. Man I should have used it years ago!!! Couple...

    Favorite Come-Along

This site is freezing up badly again....but sure not freezing here in northern Manitoba. Temps here are getting up into the 30C's (90F's) with 50% plus humidity .Hitches, Prussics are slipping, Husqvarna AutoTunes want to call it a day. The Stihl MTronics are holding up good though. Yesterday...

I'm a new member here and I have to say as great of a forum tree buzz is, it is really frustrating trying to load up on here. I never log out but I find this forum is basically frozen 90% of the time. I was unsuccessful getting on this morning. I don't know what I'm doing wrong as I have no...

    Stump Cutters

Yes lots of change of ownership in the last few years along with twinning other great companies like Tree Stuff. But you gotta give credit where it's due, Tobe revolutionized the industry with most notably the Big Shot. Also putting out a great catalog for all those years that no one could...

    Stump Cutters

Over the years the company with the best service I have found was Vermeer. Very high quality products, look at their directional drill equipment for example. They're also tightly tied in with the arborist industry with Sherrill and several large training companies.

    Stump Cutters

I bought my 252 sc brand new in 2003. 14 years later still running it today with almost 2000 hours on it. No major repairs besides regular maintenance and a couple sets of cutter wheel pillow block bearings and a couple of drive belts. Keep it regularly greased, change the oil and filter every...

Not sure if I'm missing something here. You are talking about a Alpine Magnum grinder with a chainsaw powerhead on it..... aren't you?

Need opinions on Vermeer sc 252

Levi, I was going to leave it at that with my last post. The 252 has 42" of swing arc capable of efficiently grinding many little hedge stumps while moving forward without slowing down. Just the weight and momentum of the big 252 wheel at 1500rpm will destroy a 4" stump with one pass. I can...
