    Sg40 Bandit Stump Grinder

Not sure if the video will load… but we smashed through three decent sized ash stumps. First one was maybe 30” at the flush cut and we ground a 6’x6’ swath in about 40 minutes. The teeth were touched up but not the sharpest ever. That machine only has about 140hrs on it.

    Sg40 Bandit Stump Grinder

The controller takes a minute to get a rhythm but it's pretty amazing. The direct drive is a pretty solid setup I think. Sharp teeth makes it pull super long ribbons. The back blade is also nice for pushing the pile. No flaws at all from what I've seen. The boss is pretty religious with...

    Today....

Caught the Covid (from my 95 yr old grandma!) had a couple days to recoup. Feeling much better. As is she thankfully. Finnnnally got the gumption to carve a spoon. It’s been too long. I was on a streak of a spoon a day for a while! So this feels right to get back at it with some new...

SIP chainsaw pants/ breathe flex work jacket

130$ for the SIP reflex model chainsaw pants. They’re a great pant I just have a few other pairs that fit me better. Even though they’re black, the zipper vents on the back do a great job of air flow. Better than the Arbortec freestyles tbh. I wear a 30” waist, I can get away with no belt for a...

New Bandit 19XPC with Cat C4.4 Diesel Problems

How do you like the gas engine? What are RPM when chipping? Our 12xpc runs around 2200 when wide open. We did have a DPF issue, called a cat mechanic for a service call to reset codes. Hasn’t let us down in that regard since (knock on wood.) We did however have the pilot bearing go out...

    I had to comment!

Little devils advocate here, Would you have rather seen them on a ladder instead? OSHA wants you “tied in” above 6’. I guess he could’ve thrown a harness and lanyard to the bucket. But I would be much more comfortable on the bucket platform than a ladder…. Again devils talk here

Backup system for climbing a sailboat mast

I rope walk up our mast every year. I tie my climb line to both halyards and haul my rope to the top and anchor on deck. I wonder if a simple atc or grigri would add some more security to the situation. Those boatswains chairs are fine, but my saddle definitely makes me feel better and about...

    Today....

Vista prune on the bay, earlier this week. It’s deceiving how far down the shoreline is but it’s ~150 steps down. Turned out to be a beautiful day! Where’s Waldo: I’m on the left and homie Ian is on the right. I ended up using his line redirected onto the far right white pine to turn a couple...
