7:01am you are late and our fingerprint sign in scanner automatically puts your time at 7:15am. If you sign in at 7:10+ time gets bumped to 7:30am if you arrive at 7:15am you will miss the caravan leaving the yard and be sent home. Keep it up and you will be fired
I have a 2016 Freightliner chip truck and 2015 Mack Crane, both have DEF and zero issues but the chippers have issues before you even involve the complications of DEF. Up until this year there were enough teir 3 industrial engines on the shelf that were being sold in most chippers. Now its all...
Big cranes crack driveways. I you havent cracked a driveway your crane is too small or you haven't done enough crane work. This thread would be awesome if it actually discussed the preventative measures experienced crane operators learned the hard way.
I would contribute something useful but...
He is buying trade ins from a local dealer and marking them up. Most are not auction bought and have original paint on them except for the green ones. They are good machines just overpriced. I can't get myself to buy a new gas chipper and I'm hesitant on going the DEF route.
A+A equipment, also known as Rick's Tree Service has a few of them. I'm also in the market for a 1590xp without DEF but what's out there is priced too high
It's a knuckleboom crane and parts are REALLY expensive and always have been. Word of advice. Effer doesn't make the valves neither does Palfinger. You will pay markup from both. Go to the maker of the valve not the maker of the crane. This rule applies for all tree equipment.
Not really any ideal lifting points but we were able to sling underneath the frame while being careful the slings didn't put pressure on any sensitive areas such as hydraulic lines, etc
Getting under low trees will be an issue on some jobs. But it's an issue for our other trucks too. We have bucket trucks at 13'1" and a crane at 12' 11". We sometimes have to trim our way in or let the mini fwd to the street. I'm more concerned with swaying going around turns by not making it...
We are building another truck. Just finished building the 16ft dump for our 2016 Freightliner M2. Plan on making it a dedicated chip truck was planning on going 84"(7ft) tall box. But still have more road clearance height if we wanted to go taller. How tall is your chip box?
If you look closely you will see the bark beetle next to the customer's fingernail. What type of bark beetle is it? Southern Pine Bark Beetle? White pine that was storm damaged a few years ago after sections of the tree snapped out. We pruned the storm damage. It was doing well and plenty of new...
So Mark ....here's a hypothetical question for you...
Scenario #1
if you had the choice to pick a tree apart using your crane and crew you have now(3-5guys, log truck, chipper truck and kboom) taking big picks...bang out that $3500 job before lunch and take that crew after lunch and pluck an...
