    I do the same with my tractor grapple, but it has a huge opening (bigger than the root grapple I tried). I'm a wizard with the log grapple on that machine. I found it easier. But different strokes, lol.

    Both of those are what we use on our saws... I don't need them, so if someone else needs them I'd rather it go to them. I'll take them off your hands if they're not moving soon.

    Ditto. I hated the short bottom style root grapple. I went with a log/brush grapple on my tractor. I'll check out what brand sometime. That said, you can weld plate onto the tines or other areas to reinforce weak spots. Cheap steel is, well, cheap. It's also a balance of weight to strength...

    I second the jackson Amazon hats. We've used those with entry level employees. Hell I rocked one for quite a while. They're not terrible for the price.

    I use my Yanmar 425 with a shrub bucket on 4" caliper tree plantings. A few were clay soil, so heavy b&b. It did just fine. I think the 423 is still rated at 1200-1500lb load. Unsure of the flow rate. The g1200 is the baddest unit in that weight class.

    Next to never. But everything else we've acquired has miraculously gotten used a ton once we got it. The proverbial "if you build it, they will come". I mostly want a smaller machine for a lighter footprint. There's times where the big machine still makes marks on the yard. A lighter machine...

    I'm debating a 423 to be the small machine. With the right tire combo it'll squeeze through a 36" gate. We've got a 755i for big stuff, need a small machine. (Want a giant 1200tele but don't have much local dealer support).
