Wires are tricky. Having done 10+ years in private side then journeying out in line clearance and going back to private, it's a totally different game. You can brush a house, a fence, etc. and often your target is lower than the tree. Wires are often in the tree, in the canopy site line, and are...

We are hoping to get more "swag" this year. Most of the stuff we've done has been for events, so pens and things.
Kay has a design for our new truck. I'll see if she can send it over.
We're mostly debranded too.
We are selling our backup chipper. 2016 Altec DC1317HP.
It has appx 1700 hours. It's equipped with a winch, hydraulic crush, 13x17" feed opening, and a 140hp PSI 4.3L vortec engine. It starts every time and has lots of new parts.
Since we bought it in '23 we installed a new water pump...
@southsoundtree nailed it. It's hard on everything. U joints, axles, drivetrain, seals, trans, brakes. Everything. Lol. It's just not made to do it well.
Will it do it, yes. Will it cost you way more in maintenance and time than just buying the right truck, also yes.
Unless you like paying...
I had a thread on this a couple years ago. We ended up not doing it. It's way too hard on all of the components and can be a dot nightmare.
Find an under cdl chip truck? Mine was inexpensive, 26000gvwr, and has hardly needed anything in two years. Way less headache parts wise too.
I feel it does an adequate job while also having volume for larger injections. It's not accurate to the ml, but close enough for our work. We mainly use it for EAB, so depending on your usage you may need/want something else. The quantum would be more accurate for sure. I've not used one. Hoping...
Hell of a week. Had to let my apprentice go. Not going in to details for her sake, but we're starting at ground zero with a fresh greenie when we get back from vacation.
We're restructuring the company a bit too. I'm interviewing an out of state guy from Massachusetts for a climber position...
I'll have to do that. Seems like that'd be the ticket.
Are yours smooth one one side too? Thinking of putting skateboard deck tape on them to keep from eating it when it's damp.
@levi r thank you for sharing. Business ownership is a rough ride. This week has been a lot. Totally vent here. It helped me immensely. It's the most thankless job to start a business. I'm reminded once in a while that I'm doing the right thing. Just interviewed a climber from Massachusetts who...
I had two crews last year. We're in a small town between the twin cities and Duluth, so finding folks can be difficult. This year we've only got one crew.
I've not been to TCIA expo yet. Hopefully if things go well we can this year.
We really do. It's just all consuming right now. Like, I'm not trying to complain because I know what we're doing is good. The tempo of things to keep it afloat is just not sustainable long term.
Thank you for the book! I have some time tomorrow for fathers day so I'm excited to start reading...
The video I was thinking of was for the tree guard system, nice guy Dave.
Not sure if that's applicable for Cobra since there's the shock absorber thing in it.
