So, another update. The xtatic came. Stand up company for sticking by their product. Thankfully it didn't come with a salice. I would have cut that off immediately. Will never climb on one of those
I got a reply from teufelberger
They are very aware that the akimbo essentially fucks drenaline. They have no control over what rock exotica say is an approved rope. Despite how damaging the akimbo is to the drenaline in actual use, rock exotica seem to be fine approving it for use because it...
The cordage is poison ivy calimine. This style, i guess its like the pulley guide from teufelberger. The extra prusik is to allow to pull close to the pulley for better chance of retrieval. Its a prusik and moveable to allow sinching by putting the pulley prusik through the soft eye.

No reply yet but i have noticed several core strands pulling out of the salice and traveling about a ft+ down the line after milking.
I didnt have much faith in the salice method and now i have none.
So. That extra prusik is for retrieval, it usually has a retrieval clip on the end, i just have to go buy one. The wire in the soft eye has the ends rounded over then two layers of glue lined heat shrink over it to encapsulate it.
I like these style rope guides. The small eye splice can be for...
I've milked over 2m off my 60m length so far. After milking, the twisted parallel core strands are bunching up inside. Ive had two large climbs on this line and it's bagged horribly. The bunching core strands stopped me dead on it on the akimbo. I've emailed teufelberger. I would never expect...
I like it, it's just a croll with a length of bungie cord clipped onto the back of my harness, just pulls out and goes over the shoulder. I can roll it up quickly and stuff it into the chalk bag on the back of my harness. I had a spliced loop on it before but since i have the clippy boots now...
Pretty much on point. I converted to inches to do my splice and those measurements are what i got :)
Mystery solveded..ded
Thanks heaps for the dissection!
ok, so, running through the patent i have the following draft instructions, these will be in metric.
mark 200mm from end
Mark 400mm from end
Mark 600mm from end (between this and last mark is un reduced internal component and will extend to 300mm with core removed.)
measure length of eye...
Jave spoken to a couple people at redbull who have done this kind of splice. It's essentially a complex straight burry, going to extrapolate some measurements and give it a shot when i get back home. Will post results.
Yep, i just want to know the secret, the particular method, the rope is consistently supple all the way to the eye, im sure I'd find an application where doing this kind of splice would be beneficial making something
