Crushed hand

Ooh the drama!
Seriously though, arsehole comment.
It is an ars-hole comment. But arse hole comments can be the raw truth and to the point with no filter. That's why they are viewed as arse hole comments, because normal people don't ever go there and that's why things just keep repeating, cause almost no one wants to be an arse hole.

Edit:
My left ring finger was cut open between the 2 last joints, down to the tendon sheath. I was up in a spruce tree limbing up branches, the branches were close together so it was hard to see everything that was around my hands.
It was cut with a Stihl 150 TC
After a few weeks it started to become inflamed/swollen turmeric was all that seemed to bring down the inflammation. I think I read on this forum you use turmeric, hopefully that will help with the inflammation.

It's true what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger/wiser. Ever since that bad cut, I've always made sure, to be more careful in preparing, before starting to cut.

Edit: I shouldn't post too many pictures, over shadowing Stumpsprouts's injury.
I just hope his injury heals, to where it will be as if he was never injured.

"Still not sure exactly what happened in that split moment."

then you should be DONE in this industry. If you can't figure the mistake out within a week, then go away for your own sake; or die.
I am done. I don’t climb anymore. I do sales though. Blessed to be here and to spend the moments I have.

I do know what the mistake was. Should have used a peavey, should have gotten a longer rope to butt tie so we could have dragged it off the bank slowly with the machine.

X gon give it to ya lol… whatever dude

Hey Stump. Sad you got hurt. Hope your new journey takes you where you need to be and has some excitement for you and feeds the fam. The mistake took away what you loved doing. This line of work does not allow for mistakes. Sometimes it is learning, others it is career ending and worse....need not go there. Just wish you the best my friend. I crushed my right hand pinky finger lifting a long onto the truck. New guy let go early. It was an eye opener. I have not missed a beat. Was climbing a week later I was fortunate. Anyway keep good. Never saw this thread. I been to Asheville, my good friends Nich Maidment, Andrew Wagner, Anthony Carroll Williams and Reed Wortley live there. Have done some climbing work there. Maybe we can meet up when next I return.

A right good batch of blokes for sure. Yes let’s meet up when you come by again! I’m getting back in the headspace to rec climb again.

Hand looks like it healed well. There are so many split second mistakes that can be deadly. I dodged a few. Honestly I felt like my number was about to get called in the months leading up to this accident.

We can organize a rec climb for sure....it will be next year.....Will be in UK for July with fam.

The critic inside my head says much worse than that. Lol

But honestly have no interest in turning a year old dehabilitating injury into a ‘discussion’ or just a bunch of bros talking over each other.

@Tom Dunlap can you kindly shut this thread down? Thanks
The scar is faded, but I filleted my thumb down to bone and tendon, exposed the tendon sheath, and the connecting spur. Flapped down over my thumb nail.
All when my son about 5 years old was watching me split wood for a friend. Clear grained hemlock. The kind of wood that doesn’t take much effort to split. He liked it kinda small and it kept flopping over before the axe could make contact.
I got a good rhythm by supporting it with my left, choking up mid way on the 5lb splitting axe. Totally in my production groove, that I’m sure y’all know too well. The ER doc was tickled with the tattoo as it aided in lining up the tissue. 17 stitches in this bastard. Totally thought I lost it.
Damned ER triage nurse admitted me under the highest priority, could have been having a heart attack or a gunshot wound. A decision that cost me an extra 3k in the empty slow ER.IMG_0878.jpeg

Amazing story. I also had a tattoo help in lining up the hand.

I was in the ER for 7 hours screaming in pain for 2 hrs before I got any pain med of any kind. Was left alone in a windowless room for hours at a time had to wander into the hallway to find gauze because I was bleeding all over the floor.

That’s for profit American hospitals for ya ;)

Sounds the same as here to be honest. Only difference being we never see the bill.

My mind cannot comprehend this. Neither being charged that much or being expected to pay it.

Re-breaking a bone is fun too. Doctor, my knuckle is missing. We can fix that. Cast off, Hand feels like it weighs a thousand lbs and is going to snap off. Support it with other hand, lay it on table. About 10 jabs with the dentist needle. Good and numb. Ok here goes. Tug, yank, press yank snap. Yank shove shove shove. Tweak. Get another cast on fast, Welcome to fresh break pain again.

And it barely changed the position of the knuckle after it healed the second time. Doh!

It's what happens when insurance companies are in charge of health care, not the Government. It is the same with everything else in this country. The lobbyists run the country, not the Government. It is all about who donates the most money to the craziest politician in order to get what they want. Total corruption hidden under the ruse of leadership.

It runs deeper than that. I was uninsured at the time, so I really got shafted. Insurance has the luxury to lobby to the provider... "Eh, I see you are charging 3K for gauze. We will only give you $260 for it" Boom, $260 for gauze it is.. To the uninsured, you pay fucken 3K, no argument accepted.
I called and contested the bill, told the CEO I would have happily bled for another 30 minutes. No dice. I was so pissed I refused to pay, let them send it to collections. From there I let it ride for a few months then told the agent "What kind of discount will you give me if I pay it off in full". Paid $1700 that afternoon.
That's the other game of hyper inflation of the prices.. Tack on a couple of 0's behind the decimal point, write it off when victim doesn't pay and sell the debit to collectors at a significant loss...
Fuck this country.
