Graeme McMahon\'s Age

I was just watching some more of Angus' videos from some jobs done by Graeme McMahon and Sherbrooke Tree Service and I'm just amazed.

Graeme seems at the peak of his climbing and rigging skills and I was just wondering if anyone knows how old he is? I know that he's a member here on the Buzz, but doesn't post too often.

Looks to be in his mid fifties and very lean and sinewy from years of climbing.

He definitely is an inspiration to me to continue to learn as much as possible and not to let age be a factor.

Re: Graeme McMahon\'s Age

Chris, I think the right message is what you touched on. That is that Graeme is an amazing climber/rigger and age is not a factor in that. He and Gus have a great thing going and I hope to spend many more hours (and beers) discussing more jobs and theories!

Re: Graeme McMahon\'s Age

I had the privilage to meet Grameme and Gus at ISA this year and share some beer or coffee with them. They have alot to share and learn from.

Re: Graeme McMahon\'s Age

I'm sure that they did Todd.

It's always great when you see some posts by Graeme here on the Buzz, because you know that he has a wealth of knowledge to share.

I don't really watch a bunch of videos of tree work being done with cute soundtracks behind them, but I was looking at the videos for treestuff's video contest thing and the very first one blew me away as the scale of this dead euc resonated and I got to see how terribly split apart it was.
Once I noticed how compromised the tree was and how poised the climber was, I had to figure out who he is.
Graeme McMahon is definitely world class.
Is he still around/does he participate in the forum?

I believe Graeme chimed in a few months back on the "tapered hinge" thread. No surprise, Graeme's input was pure gold.....

If you look at the "likes" on your post you'll have your answer ;)(y)

Hi Mark and fellow Buzzers

Been logging again, just got back. The trees I was felling were the dreams of fallers, so rare. The crew, were a pleasure to be with as well. Sorry the season is ending.

I was so well looked after in NJ, thanks for allowing me to assist with a great conference. I realy enjoyed being there. Take care of yourselves and others regarding that bloody virus.

Regards

Thanks, John! I posted that on a few FB tree rat groups. Prolly too long for those ego driven types with short attention spans. Likely few of them have ever done tight line rigging work like that. Seems no one thanked me or asked a single question. Thought maybe someone might take a shot at my crack directed at anyone that dared to criticise my reasons for doing the job that way.....
