Compact Bulldog Bone

Gordon, that was my bone and setup.

It is working really sweet at the moment. Adam just decided to make a clip of it in action for his adoring fans. ;)

It looked to be tending beautifully at the end there, just climbing up and gobbling up the rope.
That's one of my favorite attribute to that tool. The proper bollard size allows rope to dump right through while still grabbing reliably when weighted.

I have had 1 size bollard too small for a particular line. The rope arms won't auto grab. The issue didn't show up until tail weight became significant. I just shimmed up one size and it worked perfectly.

Wanna go, Johnny Pro? a full 1"wide Bulldog Bone for use with two full size ropes TRT.

Lonnie, it is quite heavy (19 oz., as shown) and you would need to thread both ropes as shown. It is possible that the friction bolts could be replaced with quick release pins, but I have none. Double wide links would also work with the side plate swivel friction links, but since this is new, I have no double strand links on hand either.

Thanks ML, I think tho if I get double strand, I will order the cottered type so that I could install the swivel friction link as in the SRT Bone.

Been climbing ddrt (clove hitch to bridge ring - then back to line with 1 below, 2 above blakes, figure 8 stopper - I know - minimalistic!). Want to progress to srt/ddrt - thought excellent HH/2 would be the one - now I think this is the one!

I am aware there are 3 different bollard sizes (or none) to adjust, though: How do you think the bulldog bone would handle samson true blue (12 strand) + blue streak (16 strand) - which I've seen various measurements from 12 - 12.7mm? - Would need to be this rope as my boss has loads of it (and I don't wanna start hauling around a whole extra set of ropes).

Thanks to Gordon + everyone for their innovation.

Johnny, I have offered it for sale to Lonniels already. When I get more parts in and can find the time I will try to make another for you.

I have to be very careful with my money. I will have to wait. I thought there was going to be climbers trying it out. I misunderstood. It looks great!

What up Craig. I run a twelve strand forestry pro from all gear I think it is from time to time with stock 5/8 bollard. Its leget , tad touchy on release ,but it doesn't bother me . I bet true blue could be smoother . I used to love that rope when there wasn't much out there to pick from.: ). You won't be disappointed with a bdb! Get cougar grey for ultimate awesomeness.

I haven't had good expierience with the BDB plus samson 16 strand. Seems like it's just too much for my weight on the bone. I'm 220 out of the shower, HOWEVER, I will say that if I've noticed any trends on this thread regarding what ropes work well it's this: there's really no telling until the individual tries. There's loads of different iterations of the BDB at this point. You may try it and it be the bomb.

I have washed and unwashed Vortex, the washed one sucks and the never washed one is fantastic. In fact it works as well as my Yale 11.7. There are just so many variables that make a rope work or not work for every person.
