Bump. No trivia people?Does anybody know it's original name before it was renamed after Samuel Ashe?
No kidding! That's like every ten years on average. There must be a cluster of changes down in the lower regions of those 115 years?Bump. No trivia people?
First Morristown, then Altamont. Asheville had actually suffered from more entire city devastating fires than Chicago. It has re incorporated a dozen times in the last 115 years!
Yup, from like 1905 to 1915, there was a huge fire every year. Sadly, the original Battery Park hotel, the largest timber structure ever built in the US, burned to the ground. No kidding! Ouch. The Wikipedia page is pretty good. The section on climate has me in slight disbelief...average Summertime temps of 73.8 F...sounds too good to be true.Yup, from like 1905 to 1915, there was a huge fire every year. It's true, in the twenty years or so that I've lived here, I have only seen 90° a handful of times.Ouch. The Wikipedia page is pretty good. The section on climate has me in slight disbelief...average Summertime temps of 73.8 F...sounds too good to be true.

And although humid, it's nothing like the humidity on the northeast coast.Sold!
That sounds about rightI went to the Boone NC Shigo seminars back in early '90's. Spent the whole week there and explored and loved that area (Appalachian College etc). Think it is about 100 mi s. from you?
Lucky you...I'd been waiting for 20 days and haven't seen anything yet...just hope that customs run their dirty job in a dry place because if I receive the bone all rusted I will go to Milan where they're keeping it for nothing all this time, and aim an APTA to their windows...bunch of jerks coffee drinkers during work hours stupid italics.SWEET! My Compact Bulldog Bone finally arrived. Felt like the longest month wait I've ever experienced, but I can imagine that it will be worth it. Expect some videos heading your way in the coming weeks. Thanks again Surveyor.
