Rope Runner Problems

I'm sure you will get a thumbs up, with an asterisk, don't beat on it and pound on it to the point it cross loads. I have a blue one and a red one and I have played with the gold one, unless there's some real variance in the manufacturing, I think there will be just some cautions issued.
it is in the class of what I call "big top" multiscenders and you have to be cautious of anything coming down and laying and hitting the top of the device. It can be as much as your lanyard or a carabiner to take you for a little ride.

i have a gold one that ive had since the first preorder from treestuff. mine is 100% operational and doesnt show any symptoms of this. i use it almost daily and inspect it constantly. i would have to torque the bird way past where it will go freely, it seems pretty tight. just my experience with it. glad you're okay jay!

I haven't read through all the posts, so forgive me if this has been said, but don't you think this is very similar to the Bulldog Bone Issue that was remedied with the addition of the nubs?

So, how do you like it so far, Jontree?
One days worth, I really like it. I've never used anything mechanical before, so it's a change definitely, still working out what the best way to grip it in my hand will be. Got my dmm xsre biner on my tending necklace jammed in the little hole, but then put a small keychain ring on it so that is better. Need to find the piece, then I'm going for macs throw line tender.
Starting to get the feel for Johnny pro burn outs towards the end of the day, but overall it seems like a heck of a device.
Fwiw I only held on early release runner in my hand for a few minutes so don't have much to compare to, but my gold one does not feel like it's poorly or cheaply assembled, no wiggle or play in any part of it, very solid. I can't recreate the jam up discussed in this thread

Jon I tied a loop of dynaglide in the tending hole and just clip my tether into that. Sugru also works wonders on the front and back of the bird!

Hey, dmmjunkie! Thanks for mentioning this Sugru product, and posting photos of it in use. This is the very first time I've ever even heard of it.

I took the time to go to their website to learn more about it. It has a great entrepreneurial back story. There are also stories that were shared by users of the product, whose lives were actually made better for using the product. It's a pretty good read.

The stuff is now for sale at Target and Lowe's.

Thanks again.

Tim

yeah im just passing it along from some one else. i have 11 packets sitting in the freezer waiting to be used. soon to be 10 since i just ordered another runner hahah. maybe if you get a gouge in a saw handle or something like that it could help. i let mine cure for 3 days and i haven't had any of it come off only on the back of the bird due to rope contact which it just wore a small groove in it. i haven't really used gloves with the runner since i put it on.

Thanks for that post. If I'm recalling correctly, the Sugru has a "use by" date stamped on the package, and its life expectancy is about a year from date of manufacture under normal circumstances?

I think it said on the website that freezing it might triple its lifespan. Correct me if I'm wrong on these details, please; I'd like people to have accurate info on such a great product.

I might go back to their website to verify and report back. Thanks for posting your work practices with the stuff and the results you've obtained from it.

Tim
