So maybe I’ve lost it, or my brain is working worse than usual, but I cannot seem to identify this tree. The leaves are all pretty chewed up so I got the best pictures I could; any help in naming it would be greatly appreciated! Maybe Sassafras. Leaves don’t look exactly like I’d expect, but the fruit is spot on.

Definitely not sassafras, the leaves are wrong and so is the overall structure. It’s a weeping tree, and I’ve never seen a weeping sassafras.

Those spurs remind me of prunus... leaves not so much

have you got any photos of the lateral buds ? And close up of bark?
Unfortunately I do not, I was running late and in a hurry and only took the three pictures I posted. I meant to take more while I was there, but I forgot to.
