Looks like a Red oak to me, or one of the red oaks at least. White oak has lobes on the leaves, rather than the points like reds do.I'd wager white oak or bur oak, not sure if bur oak grows in that region though?
Thanks for clarifying that, I understand what you mean with the lobes and looking again more closely I agree with red oak.Looks like a Red oak to me, or one of the red oaks at least. White oak has lobes on the leaves, rather than the points like reds do.
I’m sure there are local variances, and there are also other oaks in what I call the white oak family, Swamp White Oak and English Oak are two that come to mind. Thanks for clarifying that, I understand what you mean with the lobes and looking again more closely I agree with red oak.
I think there may be local variances in leaves, in my area red oaks seem to have more defined sinuses and lobes, if that makes sense?
Shumards with a bit more of "C" shaped sinuses maybe?I am going to say Shummard Oak. Probably not a northern red Oak in Louisiana. They just don't like it that far south.
