I would like to request some more information on this offer. I am in the category of transitioning from groundwork to climbing. Tree work is my passion. I have only been climbing since 2019. And that does not mean climbing for a regular company; Recreation, side jobs, and on occasions where my abilities were sufficient. Being that I am predominantly self taught, this is very slow and dangerous so I am eager for this type of opportunity to accelerate my passion for arboriculture

And I would like to ask the Experts of TreeBuzz: if anyone has advice for me or others responding to an ad like this I would appreciate a heads up or comments on what to watch out for, or things to ask.

I would look into the company; check their reviews, look at their website, internet listings, and history. Have they been around a while? Do they seem to know what they’re doing? If they mention paying via 1099s, run.

Also ask for a working interview, spend a day working with a crew - that will give you a feel for how they operate, and you can see if you’re a good fit for each other.

That is absolutely solid advice Reach. Our company has been operating in Durango since 2001. We do not have a website, business cards, or logos on our trucks, I guess thats just how we roll. We would welcome a working interview, as an opportunity for you to see if this was indeed something that interests you, and if the vibe is right for everyone

It's not easy when it's far away, but if you can do a trial day or two. Basically you are "interviewing" the employer. I'd look out for PPE use by employees as a absolute baseline fir a company to work for.

There are many companies across the counrty looking to hire someone like yourself, dont cut yourself short here. Decide where you want to be and start calling companies. Desire, reliability and hard work are most important.
