Tick borne illness

I've been dealing with it for years... It's a job hazard around here. tick awareness is something that is as important as PPE and other safe working practices. I try to avoid serious areas of exposure by staying away from the tall grass and other areas that are sure to have ticks like old woodpiles overgrown with weeds etc.

I have a job for over 12K that I looked at in the winter but didn't get the ok until early summer. all in the woods.. sorry... it's going to have to wait. I do have some tick spray, but prefer to stay out of the prone areas in season.

Oh man, I probably ought to get tested. I’ve been having lots of migraines that often lead to vomiting, my heat tolerance is down and I have brain fog.

Hope you are feeling better soon.
there's a lot of false negatives.. so you can't trust the test if it comes back negative. Best to consider symptoms and exposure.. That's one major problem. the other is that 3-4 weeks of doxy isn't going to do the trick if you;ve had it for a while... you need to use enzymes to help disolve the biofilm, while dosing with anti-biotics, unless you get it early. There's a lot more to it of course. That's why there are a whole subset of docs that specialize in lyme. Most don't understand how to treat it.

I got alpha gal
Not so bad in the grand scheme but…
i had a lot of bites earlier this year. I’m thankful I’m negative for Lyme. I need to change my insect repellent regiment

Anybody else pick this one up?
Testing method is muy importante.. Standard western blot tests are notorious for false negatives. Expensive, but I would look into an IgeneX lyme panel (lyme, bartonella, babesia, etc.) if your are really concerned...

I did a search on that, thanks for sharing. At a glance it didn’t seem expensive, $20 for a blood test? Do they get you with shipping or something??
I wasn’t expecting a positive on the Lyme but I did strongly suspect the alpha gal.

@Treezybreez that sounds like you've had heat stroke and maybe didn't know it. Those are all symptoms, and you will always be more sensitive to heat going forward if that's the case.
Unbelievably more sensitive. I grew up in Florida, and used to be able to power through any amount of heat like it was nothing, just drinking straight water. After I got hit with heat exhaustion really hard a couple of years ago, I need copious amounts of water with electrolytes to stave off the heat exhaustion. I drink 3 gallons at work on a real hard day, after having half a gallon on my way to work, and I'll easily have another half gallon after work by the end of dinner.

As for the ticks, I have my wife check everywhere I can't see if I get into anything questionable. Am I mistaken of don't they need to be dug in a while to get an infection?
