Looking for fork storage on trailer ideas

Title kinda says it all. I’m looking for storage ideas of forks on my mini hauler. Mostly what you guys have and use to secure them. Locks, chains, latches, pins whatcha got some pics would be amazing? Thanks!

What's the trailer look like? I've seen a lot of dump trailers and skid steer trailers with pockets welded beneath the deck where the forks can slide in from the side, and are just held in place with a pin or a strap.

It’s just an everyday flat bed not deck over. I’ve got a pic over in the BMG rake storage thread.
I’m probably going the tube steel welded underneath route. Full width with some kind of drainage/debris holes yet to be determined. And I really like the simplicity of that chain setup but I might add some kind of securement, biner most likely, of the chain. Just in case why not. Thanks!

Those pictures are just from Google, though we have a dump trailer with C-channels welded under the frame for forks. They're welded open side up, and just have a couple little pieces of angle iron welded across the top in a couple places to keep the forks down where they belong. They use a large quick pin to secure the forks.

We've never had forks in them, as we never take our forks away from the shop, but they look like they would work fine if we wanted to.
 
Rather than rectangular tube how about 2 pieces of c-channel (or just angle iron) with a gap between them so you don't need to worry about drain holes?
That would work, or do as our trailer has in the post above. Just weld a couple pieces of angle iron across the C-channel in places to keep the forks from coming out. They do not need a solid top at all.

Have you seen any accelerated salt corrosion with the channel? I’d think it would be a salt trap. I might go tube without holes and just squirt the bejesus out of it with fluid film every fall. Keep it debris free with a blow gun. Airspade lol, just giv’er.

No, it seems to hold up just fine. We wash all of our equipment weekly, but I can't say that anybody has ever paid much attention to that channel since it's under the trailer, and it has no more rust than any other part of that trailer, and the trailer is 10 years old.

I'd like to have a few solid connections between the two pieces of angle iron, but then again, I do have a tendency to overbuild things I don't fully understand.

Probably not necessary on c-channel, but maybe with angle iron (obviously depends on thickness of material). Two straps welded at the bottom should do it still keeping it open.
 
If you use mats, the best setup imo is to store the forks under the mats, in the front of an equipment trailer, with a bucket on top.

After pricing steel I’m gonna go the angle iron route and fab “pockets”. 5x2” 3/16” tube is just shy of $400.00 and more than I wanna spend. Angle and flat bar comes in around $250.00. And c-channel isn’t much cheaper than the tube.

I'm betting that c-channel is just tube minus the scrap value of the missing bit

C channel is hot rolled into shape, and get its rigidity from its shape and the thicker portions of the web in the corners. Box tube is flat plate that is formed into a box and welded, it gets its strength from the rigidity of its shape, but usually weighs less than a piece of C channel of the same strength.

That miserable flipping cube advertisement is making me jump all over the page again, I fear that I may soon go the same way @RyanCafferky has gone.
