Logger games

Today I was dumb and cheated death, or injury really. I was standing on a couple logs on the trailer, cut another off a tree being held by the tele. Of course when it came loose, it knocked the ones I was standing on off the trailer. Incredibly, I did the logger log rolling game all the way down to the ground while holding a saw and was unscathed. My buddy and I stood there staring at each other with our mouths hanging open.

How’d you do that?!

I don’t know! All I was thinking about was keeping the saw away from me. Luckily just the 346xp.

I’m naturally pretty light and quick on my feet, but a lot of luck too.

I think the biggest cause of injury is not thinking about what’s next, cause and effect, physics.

David, don't know if you were a member when I recounted this story. It's a moving log story so here's a short retelling. I was working removal and I was at the "hand" trunk junction of a silver maple. I was dropping the leaders off at the lump junction and found it hard to position myself and my saw to get some/enough undercut, no pretzel posture was going to get me a face/wedge undercut so I was targeting some form of snap. Picture this. As I created bypass from the top side when it finally popped instead of dropping its butt down the face of the lower spar it somehow jumped into the crotch of one lower leader and slid like a javelin, past me and my leg, semi arcing as the upper tip came downwards until the log was near horizontal as it shot out of the crotch. !!!!!! all inches from me!!!! Could've turned my leg into a wet stain. I can almost hear the sound of it grinding past me as I recollect it. leader was just do-able 18" bar so that's ? dia at the butt. the "hand" lump was about 5' dia

edit just for clarity the leaders were brushed out and shortened first, logs were being dropped
