Is a gorilla eye stronger than the rope itself?
Is it safe to climb just by hooking the eye to a carinber on a friction saver.

Stitched terminations are typically much strong than knots. Stitched and spliced eyes are roughly the same when it comes to break test numbers. So yes, you can climb directly off of a rope that has been 'hard connected' to an anchor.
The only rope manufacturer termination that i would NOT say that about is the petzl spliced termination for there new Flow rope. They only rate that to 15kN, so they only recommend it's use in a double rope configuration.
