The Department of Public Works, Urban Forestry is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Arborist.

Duties include but not limited to: inspects trees throughout the city; supervises a division of Tree Maintenance Specialist; defines specifies goals and objectives for the assigned department; develops and implements tree maintenance and safety protocols; prepares division budget; monitors expenditures; coordinates special programs such as the Adopt-a-Tree, storm preparedness; investigates claims of damage.

Minimum qualifications: Requires Bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in botany, or agriculture and one year of related Arborist experience.

Strong computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and introductory knowledge of ArcGIS required. Tree climbing and rigging experience in addition to CDL preferred. International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist preferred.

Salary range: $40,438-$66,423. Submit a completed City of Richmond application by

The City of Richmond Virginia is seeking an arborist to work in its Urban Forestry Division. The incumbent’s duties will include: runing daily tree maintenance operations in an assigned area of the City, assisting with crew safety and training, providing tree-related programs to community groups, diagnosing insect and disease problems, evaluating trees for potential hazards, managing the City’s Adopt-A-Tree program, and maintaining tree maintenance records.

Salary Range: $40,438-$66,423.

Position requires a bachelor’s degree or education and training equivelant to 4 years of college education in botany or agriculture with at least 1 year of experience. The preferred candidate will have:

- A 4 year degree in forestry or horticulture
- International Society of Arboriculture Arborist Certification
- 5 years of tree care experience
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, and introductory knowledge of ArcGIS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Tree climbing and rigging experience
- A VA commercial driver’s license
