25th Anniversary of Tree Climbers International

A few photos from the \'vous...

An awesome time was enjoyed at the '08 Rendezous in Norcross, Georgia, a great mix of climbers from all walks of tree life. From fire dancing to canopy scientists and everything in between, sleeping up in the trees, jam sessions at the fire and way more good trees than there was time to climb them and way more great people than there was time to climb with them!

Re: A few photos from the \'vous...

The 'vous was a lot of fun. Was there anyone who didn't have a smile on their face? I didn't see them :)

Start planning for next year in Virginia.

I will never forget the sights and sounds of so many crazy people having fun at this years Rendezvous.

During the day you could walk around the site and find just too many good trees to hang around upon and too many good friends to hang with. Yes the poison ivy took its toll a little but we were very happy to find the large vine was grape that one lady said she was wrapping around herself. During the meals where you could eat all that you care to there were conversations of great depth and many belly laughs. One pro Arborist said he liked not having to climb with a saw and to be able to climb with ladies because they smelled so nice.

At the evening events we had the most amazing presentations followed by fun stories and the campfire late at night. So what do you think would happen with this kind of group? Maybe you will not believe what I write but words cannot describe well enough so here are the highlights: gathered around the fire in no particular order we had: a guy that could digeree-doo without a pipe found a large tent pole could make sounds equal to the aborigines’ down under; a young lady that weights maybe 100 pound soaking wet is a marine biologist that spend time at sea could sing like an angel but entertained us with sea shanties that could make a sailor blush and then she also would dance with her hoops that no hula dance could equal; the bug guy could solo as a tenor sang Irish folk songs that told stories that ripped us up; Then the arborist that won the Petzl Sequoia saddle in the Tree Golf event could not only eat fire but twirl flaming battons; hoops and chains.

I don’t think we are in Kansas anymore Toto! They set up the zip-line and many TreeBoat hammocks and I rigged my three-foot trampoline from a 50 foot high limb. OH MY! Lying and Tying and Bares OH MY. (yes they said they were skinny-dipping in the river) OH MY!

So if you missed it you really missed out but take my advice and don’t miss the next one.

See you at the top,

Dan House
