    Dropped top handle saw today...

Yeah, you’ll definitely have to replace the wire loop first..... never woulda thought that would be a fail point.

    Dropped top handle saw today...

DMM makes some rubber grommets that fit a biner, one flavor has a flat side to it. I’ve wondered if they would fit in that wire loop.... would be sweet if they did, would keep a carabiner from sloshing around on it making for rapid stowing, and maybe extend the life of the wire keeper?

    Which spurs should i get

I had some caddy pads, sold em on the buzz because I couldn’t get them dialed in..... caused me much discomfort. I wanted to like them, but couldn’t. I understand being on a budget and all, but I’m too broke to buy cheap gear. (invest up front:save money/time in long haul)

    Which spurs should i get

I climb on the Talons, and carbon fiber geckos. VERY happy with both.

    Boot recommendation

I’ve had good luck and many many miles on some Carolina logger boots. I believe the steel toe version is within your price threshold, and they can be resoled by a cobbler. The leather is bulletproof, but hot. I recently got sent a pair of Haix protector ultras to try (free) as a industry...

    Dangerous firewood?

A few years ago, some old landscape timber’s were left in the backyard where I rent. After getting sick of looking at them I decided I’d dispose of them myself..... too heavy to move solo I used my chainsaw to make manageable pieces. I was wearing shorts and flip flops (I know I know, we were...

    500i or 661

To the guys that are savvy and happy with the 500i: what altitude are you operating at? I only ran a 500i for a few minutes bucking a log over the winter.... it was around 10500’ above sea level. I shouldn’t be quick to judge, but it was nowhere near as snorty as a 661, but similar to my mildly...

    On Saddle Blood Stopper Pouch

If your referencing the gunpowder looking stuff then yes, I’ve used it. It takes/took extensive scrubbing/irrigation to get all the powdery stuff out of the wound before they could stitch me back together again. Couldn’t feel a thing while they were doing it.... nerve blocker and fentanyl drip.

    Omniblock abuse

Meh. 6 years of heavy use, I’d say you got your value out of it.

    500i or 661

My hopped up 461 ABSOLUTELY SHREDS! Let us know how the 500i turns out. I’m curious.

    Omniblock abuse

I don’t negative rig into my omni blocks, but I have exceeded the rope diameter specs..... my thinking is a 14 mil rope under tension is about a 13 mil or less right?! Love those things, but you are right that rope diameter is quite limiting factor in their use... What do you think ultimately...

F.S. Study Guide- Certified Arborist SOLD

This is not the ISA published study guide****. It is published by Mometrix. I picked this up to have another arrow in my quiver. I used it in conjunction with the ISA book. It is layed out in a user friendly way, and has some very helpful test taking strategies/practices, as well as relevant...

    500i or 661

Personally I’d go for the 462 over the 500i.... or if you can find a 461 I’d scoop that up. A 661 in the tree is a lot of saw, it does happen that you need that 661 power up high, but how often? I’d go for the 46 series saw, save some weight and money....

    iPhone for communication?

I can’t weigh in on that. It seems to work for them at least. We keep a sena headset for the crane operator to link up with me, and it works really well(when we finally get them “paired” up). They use the AirPods so the op can talk with spotter, it actually works out really nice for crane jobs...

    iPhone for communication?

I’ve seen the crane company we use, utilizing iPhone/air pods so the crane op can communicate with his spotter/rigger.
