    Retrevial options for pulley saver

I made a pulley saver and have two different sized washers. One to run the rope through. and a smaller one that fits through the pulley but not the other washer. I cannot say it's beautiful, but it works.

Thanks for the tip. I climb with a figure 8 on my saddle so that safety consideration is taken care of.

Finally, got a round to playing with this. Bought a couple small ISC aluminum rings. Set one up with HRC on my lanyard and have another with HRC I am going to play with on my main positioning line. (By the way, the HRC from my recent Tree Stuff purchase feels like a different core - more wiry...

Switch side of the butterfly in the friction saver

@diramazioni , it looks like you solved your original post yourself. In considering what you said about smart rope management, I think I see what you are trying to accomplish. I can see why what you are doing would make it easier to re-crotch after ascent. I don't know what your climbing...

Switch side of the butterfly in the friction saver

Hi @diramazioni, Welcome. I am wondering why you are choosing to use a friction saver with SRT? What problem are you trying to solve? Why not install your rope without the saver? Friction savers find their cheif use in DDRT systems to protect the tree and lower friction for the system when the...

    Elbows and wrists

I have found a lot of help from Kelly Starrett's YouTube channel. I found him in my CrossFit days. He is a Dr of physiotherapy and Olympic level athlete. He mostly treats sports injuries, but his stuff is really good for self diagnosis and treatment of muscular and movement junk. His motto is...

    Hitch hiker/2/x thread

In case anyone else is interested, I called Rope-Tek today. They do not seem to have any active plans for a production run. Apparently, their machinist is battling cancer and so production is sort of in a holding pattern.

@Brocky, thanks for the reply with details. I am really interested in playing with this. Do you have any recommendations about ring sizing and cord pairing to start with? I think I have a bit of 8mm HRC to play with, but I would need to buy the rings as I have nothing on hand that isn't already...

    Saw this ad. Thoughts?

I get that chipper safety is a big deal. The consequences of irresponsible use and errors are huge. But the strength of feelings expressed on this thread do not seem to accord with actual danger to the kid or the significance of the photo. I mean, if I took a photo of my pre-teen kid in the car...

    Saw this ad. Thoughts?

I would like to point out that we cannot tell from the photo if the chipper is running while the kid puts brush on the deck. It could be a staged photo for the cute effect. Still not what I would like to advertise with.

Knots for joining two ropes for life support

This thread got a bit side tracked by an argument about scientific philosophy. But the premises were never brought to light for consideration, so I thought I might comment to share an observation, for what it's worth. The subtext of one line of thinking on this thread is scientific method vs...

    Spotted Lanternfly

Yeah, we are living it. Worked a job today. Removed a silver maple that was crawling with them. They reproduce so abundantly I am really sceptical any containment is practicable.

I am sorry for perhaps asking a question that is common knowledge, but what is the basis for your statement that the tree population is deminishing or will deminish?
