Jeff, why the Dolmar over its brother Stihl? The Dolmars are a heavier saw, are they not? Just curious. Still awesome saws though!

Mostly because it's harder to make the 441C or 661C into a screamer... the Dolmar really comes alive. That, and this is the first Dolmar I've owned. Wanted to try one after seeing a ported one in action, and actually running it through a couple of logs. It impressed me, and I wanted to give one a try.

They are nice saws. I ran a friends for a bit. German engineering at its finest again. They seem a little more durable than a Stihl but pay the price in weight. Yours most scream with the porting. I've been wanting to put the new piston and rings in my 036 pro that it needs and port it. I used to port auto cylinder heads. I just have to learn the differences of the smaller engine. Have fun with your saw and be safe.

Jeff, I just noticed the dohickey with the wire coming out attached to the handle. Is that an hour meter?

Yes... that's the Tachometer/Hour meter.
I've since swapped the wingnuts for regular nuts and cut the excess bolt length off.

That's a great idea. Especially for a ported monster. Did you get to run it yet? If so how big was your grin? What kinda Rs did it spin?

All I can think of now are the smilies from other forums. The one kicking the stone repeatedly on the ground is you lol. really sucks waiting sometimes.
