New England Fly Splicing Instructions

I haven't done any kernmantle splices, but it looks right to me and that is definitely Fly in the photos.
Some of the other guys here would know for sure.
 
Yes that is it. It's is definitely not recommended as a first splice. I tried it once and gave up after asking about it on here. Not even the pros like to splice it and it comes out quite messy even after doing it right. Knots work well with fly.
 
Done. First splice on a climbing rope and a pain in the behind as forewarned. Probably my first and last splice in NE Fly.

Before whipping, I hung it by the eye, did a few fast drops/sudden stops and bounced around on it with no detectable movement within the splice. I know that's not much of a test, but it gives me some amount of trust to use it DdRT as planned.
