I started to notice that my lemon tree started to crack, this year the lemons look very unhealthy then I noticed mushrooms growing from the base of the tree. I also see new leaf growth, is this bad? Anything I can do about it?

    Thanks in advance

Citrus trees have a relatively short productive life cycle, 20 years or less. At that point, the tree will fall into decline, fruit production will reduce or cease, and the root stock may overtake the graft. Grove hygiene protocol would call for removal of the tree, and sterilization of the soil prior to planting a replacement plant.

Yes it looks like root sprouts were not managed so now the fruit-making tree is dying.
