I heard today Altec has bought the US rites to Effer. Subsequently part prices just shot up 300%. I heard an $850 valve is now $2500. This is coming from an Effer owner in NC. Owners beware.

Something funny had to going on for altec to make waves and "design" a truck that they make hardly anything for. Curious to know what their pricing is for new units...you shoot those prices up even 20% and no one will think twice about them.

It's a knuckleboom crane and parts are REALLY expensive and always have been. Word of advice. Effer doesn't make the valves neither does Palfinger. You will pay markup from both. Go to the maker of the valve not the maker of the crane. This rule applies for all tree equipment.

Thanks for the heads up Steve. I'm a Hiab fan but also like Palfinger. IMT and Effer are also booms I'd consider ..... till now. I would not want to have to buy an Effer made part at 300% markup.
