    Atlanta Tree Worker Killed

The training Oldoakman mentioned included practicing rescues on spurs. Most of the departments that were at the training had spurs for their department. The Georgia Arborist Association donated equipment, including spurs to any department that did not have the equipment.

    Atlanta Tree Worker Killed

I would just like to add that a rescue of this type is very different for a TRT team than for a climber at a comp. At the comp usually the access line is pre-installed, you are geared up and just have to step foot into the ring. The base of the tree and the tree itself has been cleared of...

    Atlanta Tree Worker Killed

Given the wild and unacknowledged contradictions in the news article, it is possible that the 2 hour time was also not accurate... I have only seen what the video shows and have not spoken with anyone on the scene of this incident. I agree with Colb that the time of 2 hours is possibly...

    Atlanta Tree Worker Killed

The basic accent/decent taught at the Rope Technician level is similar to caving. Advance using a chest prusik and a set of purcell prusiks (foot loops), then perform a changeover to a rescue rack. Many departments have Petzl I'D's or similar devices to add the ability to climb using RADS...

    Atlanta Tree Worker Killed

Terrible news. I was fortunate to be at the training mentioned by Oldoakman. Participated at Geezers a couple of times and volunteered at a couple of comps. I believe training for rescues of this nature has increased substantially over the years for many departments TRT’s. Our team had an...

    This is the Akimbo

I did the 3-in-1 oil on areas making contact between the control arms and the bollard pin. Worked with it for about 5-10 minutes and now it opens and closes very smooth. I had contacted RE and they were quick to reply, I let them know what I did and that it was all good. While on the RE site I...

    This is the Akimbo

Got it open, it could be operator error but it appears the upper and lower control arms contact the bollard pins very tight.

Saved from a stupid mistake by a backup prussic

Thanks for posting this mishap. I've seen some of your cat rescue video's and noticed the thimble prusik above the BDB. I climb on a BDB myself and do some cat rescues. I haven't had this happen and I'm aware of the "big top" issues so I try to be vigilant about it. Your story will hopefully...

    This is the Akimbo

Thanks, I was just curious if it would fit. Haven't got mine yet, after seeing Jamie's video on the LOTS was thinking of trying a delta or small pear maillon along with this https://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?category_id=223&item=1956. To use as an adjustable tending point and double...

Would someone mind checking if the RE version tending point will accept a small or medium Maillon Rapide Delta quick link? Thanks

Very cool when you ask a question and the Inventor of the device posts a video an hour later. Thanks Jamie.

    This is the Akimbo

In the early video's Fairfield made with the Akimbo he uses the lanyard over the shoulder tending method. It seems the small tending point takes that option away without adding another piece of equipment. Has anyone found a solution that still uses LOTS?

Haven't gotten my Akimbo yet to compare it to, but the Adjustable BDB is awesome.

I was curious how tending with lanyard over the shoulder was gonna be. Since a carabiner won’t fit I reckon it calls for another piece of equipment.

    Scandere vs yale 11.7

I have the adjustable BDB and it works well for me on Bluemoon. BDB for me is much smoother on the Bluemoon than on Tachyon.
