    SRT - Hitch choices

And that’s SRT or DdRT but if I DdRT the entire climb I’m usually on the ZZ

    SRT - Hitch choices

9.3 epi on 11.5 all day; Michoacán is by far my fav knot. I climbed with a VT for a while but always had to watch it cause it doesn’t grab right away but the Michoacán does. I never could figure out how to tie the knut lol

$800 to spend - tell me what to buy!

Good point on bar lengths. I think I will invest in a 18” or 20” bar and save the 25” only when I need it

    Which rigging rope to buy!

Lol I ain’t gonna be THAT natty. I’ve caught 6-8ft pine logs running natural crotch on that ol’ blue streak of mine. I didn’t reference a green log weight chart but would guess they weight 300+ lb easy.

    Which rigging rope to buy!

So it’s long overdue but I need to get a bigger rigging line. I’ve been using a retired blue streak climbing line as my primary rigging line. Not ideal I know. So I’m looking at a few options: First is Sterling Atlas 5/8 line. Has the highest MBS at 18,000 lb. Next is Samson stable braid...

    Oh...also got a beast price on the 362. $600 with a 25” bar. Couldn’t find a better price!

Fellas - Fellas - Fellas: I decided on a stihl 362 with a 25” bar. I’m 80% satisfied with my decision lol. The saw is still decently light; I’ve used it in the tree on a handful of occasions. Cuts really well on big stuff too. If the wood is 24” and greater she does struggle ever so slightly...

    Spar System?

I second Steve. Easiest way to work a spar IMO. I mainly do removals DdRT unless I tie into an adjacent tree so I switch to SRT once before I start working to the spar. My SOP lately has been using my zig zag the entire time and just clipping in the rope wrench and an extra biner when ready to...

How does the 391 compare to the 362? The 91 is cheaper with more power but also advertised as a farm and ranch. Would that do better than the 62 for tree work? Again, not using it everyday but probably a job a week or so.

It’s featured as a farm and ranch saw. You think it would hold up?

$800 to spend - tell me what to buy!

So I do tree work on the side now since I stopped climbing full time and got into working for the power company. I have an Echo 355 and love it. Well worth the money and almost the same quality as a 201 for half the money. Problem is I don’t have a ground saw. Nothing else but my climbing...

    Hurricane work Assistence.

If insurance is paying then what's the big deal? Also let's not forget basic supply and demand: obviously tree companies will be in demand after Irma is done. As demand goes up so does price for work. That's simple. I'm with Royce here though - storm work isn't regular tree work at all. I...
