    RE Akimbo setting and rope

try running the rope through the wash once or twice. the lubricants from manufacture can make it slippery. the akimbo is a finicky bit of kit.

A Chunk of Metal With Some Holes

@Brocky , if you made the two holes adjacent to the carabiner joined into a slot could to then eliminate the need to untie and retie your stopper knot? The slot would allow you to push a bight through and capture it with the biner. You could do one or both sides that way.

A Chunk of Metal With Some Holes

woodworking bandsaw works great for cutting aluminum. all of the early akimbos were made that way. if you have a router you can use round over and chamfer bits if they are carbide.

I use it mrs quite a lot for leapfrogging my way up dense canopies. For me, I like a steel carabiner on my working end. That makes throwing my line much easier and the extra weight helps me bring it back down to me.

    RE Akimbo setting and rope

I hope to have the video up soon. There is a lot going on with this device. Jumpy descent could be needing a tighter setting on the bottom jaw (if the jaws are not touching on descent) or a looser setting on the bottom if the jaws are touching hard. It’s all about balancing the friction between...

Did you send it back to RE? That is a known machining problem that a few units have had.

    This is the Akimbo

What I hope to do is go over some basics of getting the adjustments right. It should apply the same for any weight climber.

of course. i owe a lot to this site and the people on it. without the treebuzz and the treehouse i most certainly never would have come up with the akimbo. i really want people to enjoy it and if i can help with advice or direction im thrilled to do so. ive been meaning to make a video going...

    This is the Akimbo

If you haven’t already tried this, start with the settings wide open on top and bottom. Move the bottom setting one tighter and test, then the top, then the bottom again. Keep going until it holds you on a bounce test with minimal slipping. Now, it should be close and you can play with the feel...

Contact rock exotica. It could be a manufacturing problem and they should be able to get you straightened out.

Fly, work pro 12.5 and poison ivy are my most used ropes. It does behave quite different on ddrt. It is much more sensitive and can be jerky if your used to running it solely on Srt.

i learned a while ago that wd40 stands for "water displacement formula 40" and it was originally intended for rust protection.
