I use it mrs quite a lot for leapfrogging my way up dense canopies. For me, I like a steel carabiner on my working end. That makes throwing my line much easier and the extra weight helps me bring it back down to me.

    RE Akimbo setting and rope

I hope to have the video up soon. There is a lot going on with this device. Jumpy descent could be needing a tighter setting on the bottom jaw (if the jaws are not touching on descent) or a looser setting on the bottom if the jaws are touching hard. It’s all about balancing the friction between...

Did you send it back to RE? That is a known machining problem that a few units have had.

What I hope to do is go over some basics of getting the adjustments right. It should apply the same for any weight climber.

of course. i owe a lot to this site and the people on it. without the treebuzz and the treehouse i most certainly never would have come up with the akimbo. i really want people to enjoy it and if i can help with advice or direction im thrilled to do so. ive been meaning to make a video going...

If you haven’t already tried this, start with the settings wide open on top and bottom. Move the bottom setting one tighter and test, then the top, then the bottom again. Keep going until it holds you on a bounce test with minimal slipping. Now, it should be close and you can play with the feel...

Fly, work pro 12.5 and poison ivy are my most used ropes. It does behave quite different on ddrt. It is much more sensitive and can be jerky if your used to running it solely on Srt.

you can attach to the same bridge ring to run mrs/ddrt. i find that a different hand position and feathering technique is called for when using the akimbo on mrs. i use it natural crotch almost exclusively as im normally only using it to advance to my final tie in or to exit the tree. i also...

    RE Akimbo setting and rope

i still use a rope wrench quite often. the akimbo is not the solution to every climbing situation and it was never intended to be. the hype kind of grew legs and started running on its own after a while . when i started working on it i was only making something for myself. i was...
